LWS Tour: View from the Jewel Box

And here's the sky part of the tour after the cable car ride: refreshments at the Jewel Box. This is a view facing the Sentosa island, with the cable cars hanging along the line to the right.

LWS Tour: Cable Car Ride

The final stretch of the tour is the cable car ride to the Jewel Box at Mount Faber for refreshments.

LWS Tour: Singapore Flyer from the Topless Bus

Here's how the second largest ferris wheel in the world looks like from the topless bus.

LWS Tour: Being Topless

After the FunVee DUKW ride, we're on to the next segment of the tour, which is the FunVee Open Top Bus, also known as the topless bus, for a ride around the city.

LWS Tour: The FunVee DUKW Vehicle

So here's how the FunVee DUKW vehicle looks like from the outside, on land.

LWS Tour: Floating Platform from the Sea

The floating platform that was built specially for the National Day Parade.

LWS Tour: Merlion from the Sea

And here's how the Merlion looks like from the sea... Too bad my cameraphone has shitty quality...

LWS Tour: Singapore Skyline from the Sea

So here's how the Singapore skyline looks like from the sea. Well, from the Singapore River actually, inside the FunVee DUKw vehicle.

LWS Tour: In the Duck

This is within the FunVee DUKw (pronounced duck) vehicle. Dorothy, the tour guide (known as Funbassador), is giving a brief history of Singapore.

LWS Tour: Participants

These are the participants of the LandWaterSky tour. The person giving a talk is Ms Karen Phuah from the Citizenship and Population Unit of the Prime Minister's Office.

LWS Tour: On The Way

On the bus to the LandWaterSky tour now. Nothing much to see, the usual bus-on-a-highway routine.

Big Welcome

Well, not so big actually. This is the set of breakfast that each of us got before the commencement of the LandWaterSky tour. Check out my main blog for more info on the tour. Each of us also got a piece of sticker to stick on our T-shirts to identify ourselves. Depending on the tour itself, I may be doing live moblogging so stay tuned for updates!

Dual Screen Wacom Cintiq 21UX

OMG, just seen this set of 2 21" Wacom touch screen tablets. They're going to be used for the new Information Engineering and Media (IEM) course, hosted by the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, and jointly offered with the School of Art, Design and Media, School of Computer Engineering, and Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information. Each tablet costs about $4000. Makes me want to stay in the school longer!

Some more info on the tablet:

The Cintiq 21UX interactive pen display provides the best-of-class pen experience for working directly on the screen. It combines the advantages of a large-format LCD monitor with the control, comfort, and productivity of Wacom's most sophisticated patented cordless, battery-free pen technology.

With a 21.3” TFT diagonal display, the Cintiq 21UX delivers a highly sensitive pen-on-screen experience and a generous active area for working directly on large images, concepts, and designs in the most natural way possible. Working directly with the pen on screen is a natural motion that gives you an unprecedented degree of control and allows you to take advantage of natural hand-eye coordination, helping you work more intuitively and noticeably faster.

The display's completely flat surface allows the hand and pen to glide over the surface of the Cintiq without bumping into any bezels or borders. A dynamically-adjustable stand allows you to rotate the display up to 180° in each direction, incline the display from 10° to 65°, and even remove it for comfortable lap use. Rear roller feet make the incline adjustments easy; the result is freedom to adjust the interactive display to positions that work for you.

Strategically-placed ExpressKeys™ and Touch Strips are programmable, allowing you to customize your Cintiq to your needs. The ExpressKeys are easily accessible on either side of the display and provide quick access to keyboard shortcuts, modifier keys, and functions that minimize dependence on the keyboard for uninterrupted work sessions. Finger-sensitive Touch Strips are located on either side of the display for easy zooming, scrolling, or making tool adjustments without taking focus away from the pen tip.

I want one too!

Last Stretch

Tomorrow is the submission of my final report for my FYP, and here I am in Canteen B of NTU editting my report. Hopefully, this is the last time I ever have to do this. All the best to those who are still doing FYP!

Multi Tasking

If I can stop multi tasking during lectures, I think my productivity will be much higher... Watching lecture on the left, lecture notes in the centre, and Ping.sg shoutbox on the right... and mobile blogging right now.

Yes, Yes, Yes?

One day later, and all the colourful pieces of paper indicating disagreements with the triple sharing room are taken down (see my previous post). Only the topic of the discussion is left. I hope they're removed to be considered, not to be silenced.

No, No, No!

"Triple Room. Do You Agree?" is the topic of discussion at NTU Students Union's expression board. All the colourful pieces of paper have a resonant message: No! While one likened the idea of sharing a hostel room among three people to being treated like construction workers, another jokingly said that it is not a bad idea, but a VERY bad idea. All in all, most who care to voice their opinions disagree with triple sharing room. What do you think? And what will the Students Union and the school do in response to this feedback?

Cat with Red Bull

It must have been really hard work for this cat. Just look at the can of Red Bull it's sleeping next to!

Smoking Harms Health

"Smoking harms healts. Please do not smoke."
It is disturbing to see that despite the abundance of this sign in Canteen B, people still blatantly smoke, disturbing (pun unintended) those sitting around them. Maybe I should bring fire extinguishers next time I do my work here.

Snickers is My Good Friend

It's one of the things that still keep me sane through this period. I find that the Australian version sold in NTU's vending machines is nicer than the local ones. It seems to be softer and with more nut contents.

FYP Blues

Just 5 more days and the first phase will be over. Thereafter it'll be the final submission of the report and presentations...
