This song’s play count in my media player has been shooting up ever since I put it on repeat yesterday. It’s such a happy song, with a happy tune, with happy lyrics.
It sure brings a smile to my face, even as I face the last battle that I have to go through in approximately 9.5 hours time from now. It sometimes even made me unconsciously sing to myself when I’m studying, which puts a big question mark on my sanity.
The next time you see a guy going “la lalalala, lala lalalala, lala la lalalala” in NTU campus, you know who he is.
Phew, finally done with the first draft of my FYP report and academic paper… Hoping that the supervisors can give some comments to improve on it before the final submission.
I can only thank these two songs by Olivia Ong, which I played on repeat on IMEEM the whole day when I was doing my report. I thought that her voice sounds really nice, and the beat of the songs drove me to finish my report.
Jenny, what’s your problem? Why you always change your mind one? Just now you say you won’t what, how come now you say you will already? Like that then we cannot move on leh… It’s killing me you know?
Funny that I used to dedicate this song for other people, but right now I feel that it’s perfectly apt for me.
Hold On (One More Time)
Mari Hamada
I hear you cry
Echoes like the sound of thunder
You’re hurting inside
Feeling like you’re goin’ under
Losing faith
‘Cos all your dreams have slipped away
I could dry the tears from your face
So much pain
Your answer’s coming down tonight
Only love can make it right
Hold on, dream on
If it’s right there round the world
Just stand your ground
Until the sun comes back around
Hold on, dream on
And right before your eyes
You’ll see the light
So hold on one more time
Take my hand
Let me be the one to follow
We can go slow
Ease our way into tomorrow
You’re torn apart
But I can mend your broken heart
May we find some magic in the dark
No more fear
So many things you feel inside
Let it out and come alive
Hold on, dream on
If it’s right there round the world
Just stand your ground
Until the sun comes back around
Hold on, dream on
And right before your eyes
You’ll see the light
So hold on one more time
Everyday, love’s a chance that you take
And you’ll feel your world started to shake
Well, you must be strong,
And carry on tonight
You can fly
One more time
Hold on, dream on
If it’s right there round the world
You’ve got to stand your ground
Until the sun comes back around
Hold on, dream on
And right before your eyes
You’ll see the light
Shining like a diamond
So clear, so bright
Just hold on one more time
That means that the foreign members cannot sing if they want to perform for public, which was impossible since many of the members are foreigners and even the conductor himself is a Malaysian. The choir had to resort to performing at The Arts House by invite only for “friends” of the choir.
The choir itself was really good. It was funny and I could relate to most parts of the lyrics (read more to see). Maybe I’ve been staying in Singapore for too long. As you might be able to read in the lyrics too, there are not much mention about Singapore politics, mostly just complaints about daily life in Singapore.
When we were there, they even added a complaint on the banning of the public performance of the complaints choir. Talk about self-reference.
My only complaint (!) is that they sang a bit too fast, presumably because this is Singapore where everyone speaks really fast.
Also read mintea’s, chillycraps’s, rinaz’s and Nicole’s blog posts on the Complaints Choir of Singapore. They went a day earlier, which left me kicking myself for not joining them.
