Noone Is My Friend…

Tuesday, February 5th, 2008

… in TetriNET. That is what I’ve been wasting hours of my life in for the past few days.

TetriNET

Get the classic old Tetris, add multiplayer feature, and sprinkle special blocks that do various things ranging from scattering your opponents’ block to clearing your playing field, and you get a pack of fun and excitement. For maximum enjoyment, get a few of your friends together, put everyone in a room, start cursing and swearing as your opponent switches his playing field with yours, and retaliate by randomly removing some blocks in his playing field!

To play, you’ll need a TetriNET client. Unfortunately, the original TetriNET seems to have been discontinued. But not to worry, you can grab either aTwin (for Windows), GTetrinet (for Linux), or Tetrinet Aqua (for Mac).

If you intend to host your own games, you’ll need the server as well. I find that Jetrix is quite good.

Sometimes I do host TetriNET games, which I will advertise on my MSN. Feel free to message me if you’d like to join in.

We’re Brothers Forever Remixes

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

I first heard of Renaldo Lapuz from lancerlord’s blog. I thought his voice is not bad and he has put on so much effort with his suit, so he might have been given a chance in American Idol.

Of course after watching the video, I was proved wrong.

Since then other blogs also carried a similar content about this brave guy. But when rinaz commented on arzhou’s blog that there was a christianized version, followed by arzhou’s comment that there are “lots more now, euro-dance, Reaggea all kinds of versions are on youtube”, my itchy fingers started searching for other versions of the song.

So here you are, two of the best remixes of the songs that I found on YouTube.

Other versions of the song

We’re Brothers Forever
Renaldo Lapuz

I am your brother
Your best friend forever
Singing the songs, the music that you like.

We’re brothers ’til the end of time
Together or not, you’re always in my heart
Your hurt, your feelings in you will worry no more.

The Sambal

Friday, January 18th, 2008

I was checking out Keropokman’s sambal food post when curiousity got me clicking on the Wikipedia entry on sambal. Another click later, and I found out that there is actually a Filipino ethnic group called Sambal, who speak one of the–unsurprisingly–Sambalic languages.

The Sambal are the original Austronesian inhabitants of the province of Zambales and the city of Olongapo in the Philippines. They speak Tina, Bolinao, or Botolan, all of which are Sambalic languages.

Unfortunately, the similarity is only in the name, and this ethnic group has nothing to do with the food that we eat in Singapore.
