Moblog and Pandora

Heya, finally I’m back. But not much in this post, other than the announcement that I’ve started a moblog (mobile blog) at http://hendri.squoar.com/moblog/. So whenever I see interesting things out on the roads, I’ll snap a picture or video, and upload it via M1’s Mobile Blogging service.

This moblog is actually on a trial basis, which means that I’ll decide whether to continue it after a few months (it’s not free lah). If I really like it, then I’ll consider forking out SGD 5.25 each month to maintain the subscription.

Chances are I’ll update the moblog more than this one, so check it out k?

Now, the reason why I have to keep separate blogs is that M1 as of now doesn’t support self-installed Wordpress yet. Which means I can’t blog mobily (sp.?) to this blog yet. Or maybe I just don’t know how to. So for now, I have to rely on the good ol’ Blogger to post my mobile contents. Once M1 supports self-installed Wordpress (or once I know how to), I’ll consider combining the two blogs into one.

Meanwhile, check out Pandora. It’s like an online radio that keeps on updating its choice of songs to suit your music preference. You just need to give it a song or artist as a reference, and it will decide what songs to play next. You can tell Pandora that you like (or don’t) the songs that it’s playing, and the music selection will be adjusted automatically. The selection is purely based on the characteristics of the songs that you said you liked (or disliked). Quite unlike the traditional way of choosing songs by their genre. I’ve tried it for quite some time today, and haven’t been disappointed by its selection of songs.

For example, when I said that I liked “Don’t Stop Me Now” by Queen, it gives me “I’ll Call You Mine” by The Zombies because:

Based on what you’ve told us so far, we’re playing this track because it features basic rock song structures, acoustic rhythm piano, meandering melodic phrasing, mixed acoustic and electric instrumentation and major key tonality.

And when I said I liked The Flying Pickets, Pandora decided to dish out “In The Still of The Night (I’ll Remember)” by Boyz II Men because:

Based on what you’ve told us so far, we’re playing this track because it features acoustic sonority, major key tonality, vocal harmonies and many other similarities identified in the music genome project.

Quite impressive, eh?
