Dear Diary,
As some of you might have known, I embarked on a round-the-world trip in MS Flight Simulator. To let other people know where I am in this virtual trip, I’ve changed my MSN nickname to something like: Hendri Budi - Current Location: CYWG - Winnipeg International, Winnipeg, Canada. The location changes almost everyday as I proceed with my trip.
Just a while ago, a friend of mine asked me what I was doing in Canada. I thought it would be quite fun to really act as if I was in Canada. The following conversation was what ensued.

John: hello.
bcc: hello john how are you nice to see you again. 
John: how come u are in canada?
bcc: yeah… cos i suddenly got a scholarship to canada.
bcc: at winnipeg university… not too famous i guess
John: but u know what, tina tan is there.
John: or right, I guess u dunno who she is.
John: forget it.
bcc: really? the ex-sa5 girl?
John: but canada school starts in october.
John: yes
bcc: yeah… i got here first to familiarise myself with the area
John: are u kidding?
bcc: er… why? do i sound like i am:
bcc: ?
bcc: anyway how are you? where are you now?
John: no, that is why I got that question.
bcc: how come you can come online so late?
John: i am in susan’s house.
bcc: icic…
bcc: send my regards to the others there
John: class gathering.
John: i will.
bcc: who else are there?
bcc: wow.. i stay up until this early just to meet you all

John: u r seriously in canada?
bcc: why are you doubting it?
John: it’s unbelievable.
John: what is the scholarship for?
bcc: who else are there?
John: what course?
John: how long?
John: answer me.
bcc: i’m taking aerospace engineering… it’s up to undergrad only
bcc: maybe i’ll come back singapore for phd
John: but how come they got spring admission?
bcc: well i have no idea… just that suddenly i received this letter of scholarship offer on my doorstep the other day.
John: did u apply for it?
bcc: i did.. but never thought so much about it.. 
John: so is it a full scholarship?
John: or partial
bcc: it’s full scholarship. they even gave me some allowance
John: how much?
bcc: not so much… just C$1000 annually.. so i have to use some money from home of course.
John: u mean 1000 incl. school fee
John: or not?
bcc: yeah
John: incl.?
bcc: i don’t have to pay for school fees. and they give me C$1000 for allowance.
John: so is yr life very comfortable there?
John: hello?
John: r u there?
bcc: yeah sorry.. was chatting with quite a lot of ppl now.. damn.. i miss singapore and indonesian friends… :’(
bcc: not bad lah… got a quite good apartment
John: i see.
John: so did you managed to recognized the canadians coins?
bcc: well of course.. haven’t seen much of other coins sp i can recognise it quite easily
bcc: they’re quite interesting
John: sp?
John: what is it?
bcc: *so
John: I see.
bcc: who else are there?
bcc: you not going back yet, ah?
John: nope, soon.
bcc: you still haven’t told me who else are there…
John: haha, u lied.
bcc: huh?
John: winnepeg does not have areospace.
bcc: they don’t?
bcc: what the… i thought they have.. i’m taking engine for the first year

bcc: gotta ask the uni guys then
John: bustard, they do not even have engineering.
John: liar!!!!!!!!!!1
John: u disappointed me.
John: really.
bcc: huh? sure or not? how did you check?
John: u mean winepeg u right?
bcc: hmmm….
bcc: i think i should read the brochures more carefully…
John: funny!
bcc: loll…
bcc: did you tell anyone else about this?
John: funny!!!! :@
bcc: of course… but did you tell anyone elseabout this?
John: yap
John: now the whole class knows
bcc: heheheh… sorry john.. just kidding..
John: apology!
bcc: it’s my virtual plane in ms flight simulator that is in canada now…
bcc: apologies john!

er, miss.. the trip is a virtual one in ms flight simulator.
i didn’t really go there, but rather i fly in a private jet to the airports in the simulation.
if you want to join me, go buy ms flight simulator and i’d be happy to share my hob.. er.. obsession with others.

yeah it’s a software. i can burn for you one copy when i come back to singapore if you’d want.
but don’t expect too much from it, as the name says, it’s a FLIGHT simulator. don’t expect to see your house or some shopping malls in it. 
yeah i’ve accepted ntu’s offer already. now i’m waiting if they’d consider me for sembcorp scholarship, otherwise i’ll take asean scholarship.
