Happy Twenty-One

The thing about being a blogger is that you have a responsibility to maintain your blog. Either let people know what’s going on with your life, or at least update the site with alternative contents for people to look at.

And when you hit a busy period in your life, you might tend to put blogging aside first, thinking that once you’re out of the busy period, you’ll resume blogging as per normal, and promising to update your blog with what your readers have missed.

Unfortunately, as the days go on, you realise you’re more busy than ever, and when finally you can sneak that little bit of precious time of yours to finally update your blog, you’re simply stumped with what you should talk about first, becase there are simply too many things to talk about and too little time that you can spare for blogging!

Well, I shall spare you with all the nitty gritty details of what happened within the past few weeks or so in my life. I shall spare you the story of how I almost got a heart attack when The Gal wore what she did when we were out on a date about a week or two ago. Oh, I just did, didn’t I? Anyway, she wore this lovely shirt and skirt that made her probably one of the prettiest girl I ever saw.

I will also spare you the story of how we were practically full of static that time, electrocuting each other as we walk along in one of the shopping malls. Oh I just told you that too, didn’t I?

But what I’m going to tell you here will probably be one of the most interesting epidosdes in my life. The other episodes that you’ve missed will be updated soon too, if I can sneak that little bit of precious time of mine. :)

My Share of the Birthday Cake

Well, the most recent episode in my life would be my 21st birthday, which I just celebrated a couple of hours ago with The Gal. In fact, I was sitting on the train on my way back from her place when I was typing this entry. I know I was supposed to be doing my lab report on the train, but never mind, since I couldn’t do much because the silly me forgot to bring the question paper of the lab.

I’ve practically been booked on this date by The Gal since a couple of weeks ago. The reason for that, as it seemed, was that because she wanted to hold a mini birthday party for me (now everyone out there say with me “Awww… That is so sweet”).

After tending to a disaster at my place (that damned air con leaked and flooded my floor!) and getting a haircut (which made me look really silly) I arrived at her place at about 4.30 p.m. I was talking with The Gal, her mum and sis, before I retreated to The Gal’s room to watch her play MapleStory. Yes, those who read her blog too will know that I too play MapleStory once in a while.

It wasn’t too long before dinner was served–specially cooked by The Gal’s parents (now everyone say with me again “Awww… That’s so sweet.”). Dinner was sotong (squid) filled with fish paste, pork ribs, and clams. (Um, don’t ask me how they are cooked as I don’t quite know how to describe them). They’ re really yummy! The pork ribs easily beat whatever pork ribs I’ve ever eaten in my life.

After dinner, I slacked around, wanted to do lab report, but ended up that I forgot to bring the lab question paper. So I just surfed the net, tried to update Maple to the latest version but failed, while The Gal’s mum and sis promised for a second round of “lemon chicken”. Oh, we also ate mangoes–nice but too sour to my liking.

It was not until 9 p.m. that the “lemon chicken” promised come. The “lemon chicken”, as it turned out, was in fact a chocolate mousse birthday cake, complete with chocolate flowers and leaves and gold wording and candles!

On we went with the celebration–all lights out, candles lit, and camera ready.

My Birthday Cake

Singing happy birthday to me, The Gal’s family walked out of the kitchen with the cake, and presented it right in front of me on the dining table.

I made my wish, and blew the candles in one go–not so difficult, because the wind almost beat me in extinguishing the flames.

Sour Cherry Tomato Laced with Sour Candy

But the next thing that greeted me was not the cake…. But cherry tomato laced with sour candy… Haha… Thanks ah, make the birthday boy wince in sourness before enjoying the cake. :P
A Cake For You?

And the cake was then cut. The first cake went to her dad, followed by her mum, and ended with her sister and The Gal herself. I had the last cake, but never mind, I had the biggest cake. Mwahahahaha.

What Remains of the Cake

The cake is so yummy. It actually consists of three types of chocolate. One is the chocolate cake itself, one chocolate mousse, and the other a layer of criss-crossing bitter chocolate on top.

Letters Frame

New T-Shirt!

The Gal gave me this sweet little letters frame that depicted my name, while The Gal’s sis gave me a maroon-black-white striped T-shirt. :P They said I just need to even out the tan on my arm a little bit, and I would look good in it. :P
After the celebration, we went to review the photos we took throughout the day, and before we knew it, it was time for me to go home. How I wish I can stay near The Gal so that I can go home later, but no, it was impossible.

It might be simple, but it had to be the most memorable birthday celebration. Well, last year one was memorable too, oif course. Thanks to all my friends who celebrated my birthday with me last year, it was the second most memorable birthday celebration. Considering that today was the probably the second birthday celebration I’ve ever had for the past ten years, would you be surprised?

Love you Gal…
