Friday Five (Feb 13, 2004)
Friday, April 23rd, 2004Dear Diary,
February 13th Friday Fives. It was Friday the 13th, by the way…
1. Are you superstitious?
No.
2. What extremes have you heard of someone going to in the name of superstition?
Hmm… Maybe sacrificing his own life just for that superstition.
3. Believer or not, what’s your favorite superstition?
You can’t whistle or cut nails in the night because you’re going to get the spirits and ghosts very angry with you. I used to be told this a lot of times by my grandmother. ![]()
4. Do you believe in luck? If yes, do you have a lucky number/article of clothing/ritual?
No.
5. Do you believe in astrology? Why or why not?
No. I used to believe in astrology—until I tried checking out other people’s readings and found most of them applied to me as well. Anyway if astrology was true, then you would be able to generalise people according to, for example, their birthday. I’ve seen cases where two people were born at the same time—or even twins—who have totally different personalities. Neither of their personalities was similar to what the astrology reading predicted. (Proof by contradiction. :P)

Friday Fives (Feb 20, 2004)
Monday, April 19th, 2004Dear Diary,
The following is a mail sent by the person behind Friday Fives:
Hey guys, I feel I owe you an explanation because you took the time to sign up for the notify list. As you’ve probably realized, there is no Five this week and it’s been pretty spotty over the last month. The past few weeks have been busy (in a good way!) and I just haven’t had the time.
As a few of you have questioned, it’s not a matter of “simply” coming up with five questions each week. The Friday Five has been around for more than two-and-a-half years now and it gets to a point where it seems everything has been questioned already (and if there is a theme or similar set repeated, folks don’t hesitate to let you know!). I hugely appreciate people sending in their own sets, but more and more often the submitted questions have already been done in the past. I can’t ask people to sift through every set of used questions if they want to send in their own, so I just need to make that call as they come in. By all means, though, don’t stop submitting.
I’m not sure if the missed fives are going to be regular for a few weeks, but I just wanted to send out a warning. In the scheme of things this isn’t a big deal, but to some it apparently is, so here you go.
Heather
