Whiny Slimy Creepy

Thursday, January 20th, 2005

Bob Ricci’s songs are running over and over again in my head. His songs are parodies of mainstream songs and are so hilarious. The song that was used in the music video “She Freakin’ Blocked Me” I mentioned a couple of days ago was actually sung by him too. You can also listen to his songs online.

The following is the lyrics for one of his songs.

Whiny Slimy Creepy
by: Bob Ricci
(sung to the tune of Truly Madly Deeply by Savage Garden)
I have a dream
I have a wish
I have a fantasy.
That something horrible would happen
and that you’d cease to be.
I just can’t stand to be around
whiny slimy creepy you.

I’m sick and tired of putting up with you,
The way you’re always tagging behind me
I hide but you find me
At first it was cute but now:

I wanna throw you off of a mountain
I wanna drown you deep in the sea
I wanna tie your feet together
and leave you hanging high from a tree.

I guess you might think that
I’m taking this a bit extreme,
Like that one time
I poured some drain-all in your Ovaltine.
And can you tell me
do you really think it’s wrong of me?
To wanna punch you in the stomach after you
just had a thanksgiving dinner
A huge apple fritter,
Maybe a beer or two.

I wanna throw you off of a mountain.
I wanna drown you deep in the sea.
I wanna lock you in the basement
and accidentally swallow your key.

Oh can’t you see now, baby?
You really irritate me,
completely aggravate me.
What’ll it take to make you leave?

I have a dream
I have a wish
I have a fantasy
That something horrible would happen
and that you’d cease to be
I just can’t stand to be around
whiny slimy creepy you (I hate you)

I wanna throw you off of a mountain.
I wanna drown you deep in the sea.
I wanna grab a sharp utensil
and jam it right through your main artery.

I wanna throw you off of a mountain.
I wanna drown you deep in the sea.
I want to tie your feet together
and leave you hanging off from a tree.

Nocturne 2005

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

Just for fun, I shall help my friend publicise Guitar Club’s Nocturne 2005, which is a guitar concert held just a day before Valentine’s Day (that’s 13 February) at NAFA Academic Theatre (map here). Come with your spouse or your boyfriend/girlfriend. If you don’t have a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend, get your best buddy to come along. If your best buddy already has a spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend, then you’re a loser get your next best buddy. Or even get your crush to come with you and confess after one of the great love songs that will be brought to you by the talented NTU Guitar Club members. Worse come to worst, come alone. :P
Click on the poster to get more details.

(Actually, I’m not helping out voluntarily. I’m hoping that I can get a free lunch or dinner somewhere sometime). :P
(Just kidding).

Three-In-One

Wednesday, January 19th, 2005

The International Student Exchange Fair today was disappointing. University of Melbourne was not represented and in fact the only Australian university that was present was abysmal–the representative of University of New South Wales merely left a stack of brochures for passersby to pick up.

I ended up only picking up a copy of ‘If You Want To Study In The United States’ booklet–for which I had to pay SGD 2.

I’m starting to get addicted to Coffee Club Xpress and McDonald’s. I need coffee to stay awake throughout the day and burgers for supper.

I found out last Friday that the School of Communication and Information of NTU has an underground broadcast studio. That was where we learnt to use those professional-looking DV cameras for our assignment.

I probably should have taken Communication Studies as my major instead of Engineering–their modules are so interesting!

iPod Shuffle

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

I‘m attracted to the iPod Shuffle (review here). It looks minimalistic and has very limited features, but yet the weight and the size (both physical size and storage size) are something, especially at the relatively low price at SGD 178 (for the 512 MB model). Extra marks for it having an iPod brand, and that it’s flash memory-based instead of hard drive-based like my Creative Nomad Jukebox 3. I don’t mind not being able to choose or see my songs, because that’s what I’ve been doing with the Jukebox anyway.

I Want To Become An NTU Lecturer

Tuesday, January 18th, 2005

I want to become an NTU lecturer. You just go up there behind the desk during lectures, mumble something related to the course you’re lecturing on, and ask the students to do self-learning.

Then you get a handsome sum of money.

What a way to lead a great life.

My Thoughts Are With You…

Monday, January 17th, 2005

I don’t know Mrs. Geetha Creffield personally, but I still get that shock when I learnt in the news that her husband, Mr. James Creffield, fell to his death recently.

Mrs. Creffield is an Arts teacher in my alma mater–Anglo-Chinese Junior College. I remembered her as the teacher who made announcements in machine-gunfire rate. I also remembered her as the teacher who, together with Ms. Michelle Wong, brought Spectra to a much greater heights than ever before. Spectra would probably have faltered and died had she not taken the initiative to register the club for an international forum at that time.

Mrs. Creffield is also responsible for the winning of Singapore in several international debating competitions–she is a coach of the nation’s pre-university international debating team.

The death of her husband is certainly a tragic blow for her. I can only hope that she be granted the strength to go through this period.

My thoughts are with you, Mrs. Creffield.

From The Straits Times Interactive (they misspelt Mrs. Creffield’s name; it should be Geetha not Geeta):

Jan 16, 2005
British expat falls to death during rock-climb

A BRITISH expatriate fell to his death yesterday morning while rock-climbing near the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Mr James Creffield, a food technologist married to an Anglo-Chinese Junior College teacher, was an avid rock-climber and would go climbing almost every weekend, The Sunday Times understands.

His wife, Mrs Geeta Creffield, 36, heads the arts department at ACJC, runs the drama and debating clubs and coaches the national pre-university debating team.

Well-loved by students and respected in the teaching circle, she won the first President’s Award for teachers in 1998, when it was launched to recognise the best in the profession. The other winner that year was Mrs Lim Tai Foon of St Hilda’s Primary.

Her husband was no stranger to the college. He would help behind the scenes at college events, such as funfairs and drama productions.

When contacted last night, Mrs Creffield said she was not ready to talk about her husband’s death.

Her students were shocked and one of them, 17-year-old Gayle Goh, said: ‘Mrs Creffield is a role model; she’s an incredible woman. It’s very tragic and very sad that this has happened to her. She’s such a strong and calm person and we’ve always relied on her. Now, we’ll be there for her.’

The funeral will be held tomorrow at the Mandai Crematorium. — Tracy Quek

The Focker Freakin’ Blocked Me!

Saturday, January 15th, 2005

If there was one lesson he learnt today, it was that ogling people can be quite boring.

For The Year One Engineering Student Who Is In A Computer Arts Club And Takes Communication Studies Subjects (TYOESWIIACACATCSS) sitting there behind a desk waiting patiently for three hours for people to get interested and sign up as an ad-hoc committee member of image|reel 05, boredness was all that he felt.

The novelty of watching people as they pass by quickly wore off as he watched the same persons passing by for the second time, for the third time, and for the forth time. Saying “Hi” for the third time to the same friend of his was also rather boring.

After three hours of waiting and waiting, TYOESWIIACACATCSS managed to get about ten plus people to sign up. So after this, he went off to Orchard to meet NC, the junior of his he just met a couple of days earlier.

And together they went to Meet The Fockers.

To TYOESWIIACACATCSS, The Fockers is pretty good, but not really an outstanding movie. TYOESWIIACACATCSS was bored at first because The Fockers starts very drily, aside from the fact that he was tired by the time he reached the cinema. But as the movie progressed, he finally smiled, and had laughed a lot by the time the movie ended. A cool thing to watch in the movie is the gears that the Focker’s soon-to-be in law has.

TYOESWIIACACATCSS went home after the movie, and is now very, very tired. So, TYOESWIIACACATCSS is going to sleep. Soon.

You Are In My Heart, I Love You, but You Broke My Heart (and a snippet from the first Kopdar)

Friday, January 14th, 2005

Click here to skip to read about the first Kopdar.

OK, that’s a long title.

I skipped half of a lesson today.

I went off right after FE1007 Mathematics 2 at 1430 to meet NC, a junior of mine who was last year’s president of Spectra, a co-curricular activity I was a committee of two years ago while I was still in ACJC. In doing so, I skipped FE1005 Materials Science, but it was responsibly done as NTU is still having the exact same lecture tomorrow, which I can attend.

WCM (a.k.a. TPO) was supposed to come but she cancelled at the last minute.

So there we were, a J3 ex-President and a J4 ex-President visiting our dearest J2 and two J1 (the meeting was supposed to be only for J2s) juniors at the Spectra meeting at the same venue, computer lab A3.4 in ACJC. The meeting was led by the current J2 President, making there 3 Presidents and ex-Presidents being present in the room, the record so far since NTA was in the room back in early 2003.

The theme of the issue is Love. From what I gathered during the meeting, they seem to be having a little difficulty in getting submissions. I myself submitted the three pieces below:

… of which only one (the ‘I Love You’ one, I believe) was chosen.

The J2s also outlined the rough plans of the year, including when meetings are to be held. It seemed that they still stick to the old meeting schedules, that is Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Which means that I may not be able to crash the meetings anymore in the future…

But it doesn’t (and shouldn’t) matter much I guess. My studies is more important, and helping the club should be a second issue to me.

Anyway, it’s enlightening to see a club you worked so hard for thriving in the future. NC and I could actually see the enthusiasm of the members this time.

So after the meeting (and a request to do an eCard web script for them), I went back and joined HP802 Working In The 21st Century after a break in the lecture. So I only attended the last half of the lecture, and was a little bit lost.

At least going into the lecture after the break was better than those who left after the break, wasn’t it? :P

By the way, Kopdar was held on Wednesday, 12 January 2005, at 7 PM. There are posts and photos by those who were present. They are from Yuliana and Voldi, Joice, Ria and Torkis, and Flona and David. Also present were Inoki and Jimmy, while absentees were Hendri (yours truly), Evi and Oppa and Ivan. Whoa, looking at the list, I feel as if I’m the only one who isn’t married or attached. :P Hopefully I can make it for the next gathering…

CS227 Web Design and Management

Tuesday, January 11th, 2005

At CS227 lab now doing the first lab in Web Design and Management. I wonder whether I’ve been taking the correct choice by taking up this course. I probably will only gain some tips and tricks on doing web pages, but that’s all about it.

Ok, I’m not saying that I am already an expert in web design…

It’s just that this course is intended for beginners, and the only sole reason why I’m taking this course right now is that I wanted to put that Minor in my resumé.

But is that a good enough reason? Will I just be wasting my time? Will I actually learn something new from here?

Or will I do better by taking other Communication Studies modules such as Organisational Communication or Interpersonal Communication instead?

And why in the world do I have this obsession on taking CS subjects in the first place? Sigh…

Bloggers Gathering (a.k.a. Kopdar)

Monday, January 10th, 2005

Indonesian bloggers who are in Singapore, if you read this, I just want to let you know of an Indonesian bloggers gathering, a.k.a. kopdar (kopi darat) tomorrow, 11 January 2005, at 7 PM at Terrazza, Wisma Atria.

If you manage to read this in time and are interested, please contact me by calling or leaving me a message or comment.

Thanks.

PS: I can’t promise I can be there either… I’ll try my best to finish this 14-question assignment due the following day as soon as possible. I just got a call from my boss in Visual Arts Society. Apparently there’ll be a sub-committee meeting at the same time. So I guess I have to miss this gathering again. :(
