Customer Service Representative: Can you

Customer Service Representative: Can you install LOVE?

Customer: I can do that. I’m not very technical, but I think I am ready to install now. What do I do first?

CS Rep: The first step is to open your HEART. Have you located your HEART ma’am?

Customer: Yes I have, but there are several programs running right now. Is it okay to install while they are running?

CS Rep: What programs are running ma’am?

Customer: Let me see, I have PASTHURT.EXE, LOWESTEEM.EXE, GRUDGE.EXE, and RESENTMENT.COM running right now.

CS Rep: No problem. LOVE will automatically erase PASTHURT.EXE from your current operating system. It may remain in your permanent memory, but it will no longer disrupt other programs. LOVE will eventually overwrite LOWESTEEM.EXE with a module of its own called HIGHSELFESTEEM.EXE. However, you have to completely turn off GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM. Those programs prevent LOVE from being properly installed. Can you turn those off ma’am?

Customer: I don’t know how to turn them off. Can you tell me how?

CS Rep: My pleasure. Go to your Start menu and invoke FORGIVENESS.EXE. Do this as many times as necessary until GRUDGE.EXE and RESENTMENT.COM have been completely erased.

Customer: Okay, I’m done. LOVE has started installing itself automatically. Is that normal?

CS Rep: Yes it is. You should receive a message that says it will reinstall for the life of your HEART. Do you see that message?

Customer: Yes I do. Is it completely installed?

CS Rep: Yes, but remember that you have only the base program. You need to begin connecting to other HEARTS in order to get the upgrades.

Customer: Oops… I have an error message already. What should I do?

CS Rep: What does the message say?

Customer: It says “ERROR 412 - PROGRAM NOT RUN ON INTERNAL COMPONENTS”. What does that mean?

CS Rep: Don’t worry ma’am, that’s a common problem. It means that the LOVE program is set up to run on external HEARTS but has not yet been run on your HEART. It is one of those complicated programming things, but in non-technical terms it means you have to “LOVE” your own machine before it can “LOVE” others.

Customer: So what should I do?

CS Rep: Can you find the directory called “SELF-ACCEPTANCE”?

Customer: Yes, I have it.

CS Rep: Excellent, you are getting good at this.

Customer: Thank you.

CS Rep: You’re welcome. Click on the following files and then copy them to the “MYHEART” directory: FORGIVESELF.DOC, SELFESTEEM.TXT, REALIZEWORTH.TXT, and GOODNESS.DOC. The system will overwrite any conflicting files and begin patching any faulty programming. Also, you need to delete SELFCRITICISM.EXE from all directories, and then empty your recycle bin afterwards to make sure it is completely gone and never comes back.

Customer: Got it. Hey! My HEART is filling up with really neat smiles. SMILE.MPG is playing on my monitor right now and it shows that WARMTH.COM, PEACE.EXE, and CONTENTMENT.COM are copying themselves all over my HEART!

CS Rep: Then LOVE is installed and running. You should be able to handle it from here. One more thing before I go…

Customer: Yes?

CS Rep: LOVE is freeware. Be sure to give it and its various modules to everybody you meet. They will in turn share it with other people and they will return some really neat modules back to you.

Customer: I will. Thank you for your help.

Somewhere in the midst of uploading prom pictures now.. Well, it’s a chore, considering that I’m using a 56 kbps modem (with actual connection speed of 46.6 kbps) to upload something like 24 MB worth of photos. Once I’ve finalised the scripts I’ll publish the URL of the gallery.

The script I’m currently working on is rather cool.. It allows the server to resize the pictures on-the-fly, so there is no need to upload both the actual pictures and the thumbnails manually. Moreover, it can read directory contents automatically and generate the correct gallery page. So if there are any new photos or removal of any photos, there is no need to adjust the gallery page. You just need to upload the new photos or delete photos. And then you edit the caption information file, which is optional too. If it’s omitted, the captions will simply be the file names.

Anyway, enough bragging. Everything should be up by the end of Saturday. Thank you for your patience…

omg… i forgot to upload this again… anyway, here goes:

01:36 04/12/2003

Oh yeah, almost forgot about my Singapore post. Actually I don’t really have too much to say. But anyway, I might as well say it, just in case there’s no other time…

Singapore has a special place in my heart.
It is where I learned English as a first language.
It is where I grew up and matured, in many ways.
It is where I learned to become independent.
It is where I almost lost my mind, and regained it again.
It is where I got to know more than 75% of my friends, and some of them from other countries other than Singapore (even Indonesians whom I didn’t know in Indonesia).
It is where I learned about cultures of another country.
It is where I spent four years (and probably the next six years or so) of my education years.
It is where I don’t mind becoming a PR or even a citizen (and maybe even spend my old years). Hey! Singapore is so much safer than Indonesia in general and so much bigger and better-equipped than my place!
It is where I learned a great deal of first-hand experience on life matters.
It is where I got lots of my gadgets. :P
Of course, this being said, it doesn’t mean that I’m going to forget about my real home. Yes, although in the end I might not spend the rest of my life in Singapore, I will never forget Singapore. Thank you to all the government bodies and the friends I’ve made in Singapore for making my stay so much more enjoyable. I can’t imagine surviving without you people! You guys rock!

the log of my trip with my brother is up: The Humming Bird’s Singapore Guide.

and here’s my brother’s account on the trip: Excursion Report - Operation: Singapore.

here’s a background story on the log:
Between 3 - 7 December 2003, I played Singapore tour guide for my brother. Recorded here is the log of my trip. I decided to create a separate page for this as I realised that the log of my trip became too long to be included in the main diary. Enjoy!

still to come: prom night report and prom night photos. :)

hello…

i’ve been spending the past few days with my brother… i’ll upload the log of my trip once it becomes available.

anyways… 6 hours to prom. to be honest, i’m more scared than excited. just like that time during asean dance. scared that i’ll go crazy again.

bah… 43 hours and 45 minutes more to going home. my flight’s on 10 dec, at 10.05 am. Apparently some of my friends will be going on the same flight too. ah well, see you all there.

Hi…

Been a while since I last posted, and I blame it on the lack of Internet connection since the end of exams. And also due to the fact that I go out almost everyday. Well, either that or that I have to pack up my stuff. My bro’s coming tomorrow, so I have to pack up earlier so that he can help me bring some of the stuff home. but… that also means that i will only be able to post some more either on my second last day in singapore (on the 9th), on the day i’m leaving at the airport (10th), or in indonesia itself.

i’m at a lan shop now… and i forgot to bring my singapore post here, so i’ll post it the next time.

hey… the scrum network is quite cool… if you’re from acs i year 2002 or before, you can sign up already. in case you dunno, it’s a network that tries to connect all acsians together. currently, i think there are only 4% or so of my cohort who already signed up. if you’re from acjc year 2003, i think you have to wait before you can sign up. go check it out at http://www.acsoba.net.

oh well… can’t really think of anything new to post now.. hey, if i were to post what i wanted to post earlier, i might be suspected of copying another friend’s blog. so i’ll leave my contemplation for the next time. till then…
