D-91: A Week

Monday, June 30th, 2008

It’s been a week since I started working in GEC. The first week was… well… quite hard to describe. It was exciting, knowing what I am going to perform in the company, as well as boring as I can’t really start yet as my PR is not approved yet. My direct manager is also not around, so I had to rely on the other team members to guide me along.

It doesn’t help that one of the laws also prohibits me from knowing anything about the project as long as my PR is not approved yet. Not surprisingly, of course I can’t say anything about the project here either.

So I spent the first week performing administrative tasks needed for new hires, doing some readings on the basic knowledge needed for the project, as well as trying to get used to the company’s internal systems, like the tools available on the company’s intranet.

One of the good things about the company is that all employees are issued with a laptop each. I got one of the Lenovo T61, which is apparently more powerful than my desktop PC. Too bad we can’t install any personal stuff inside. :P

Oh, and I got my first assignment too, although it doesn’t have anything to do with the project I’ll be doing.

D-92: Understand

Perhaps one day, someone will understand what I really feel…

Perhaps one day, someone will know why I feel this way…

Perhaps one day…

D-93: Blog

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

Maybe what I can do here is blog once a day, until the time is up. It’s been a while since I blogged as frequently. Yup, I’ll blog while I still can, one post a day. Who knows what will happen after the time is up, isn’t it?

D-94: Tick Tock

If one fine day, someone suddenly tells you that you only have less than 100 days left in existence, how would you react? And what would you do in the rest of the days of you existing?

I’m Only Human on the Inside

Posted this long time ago, and right now this song is exactly like what I feel.

I’m not made of brick, I’m not made of stone.

Mission Singapore: Finger Gun Fight

Tuesday, June 10th, 2008

I participated in another of Mission: Singapore’s… missions, called Finger Gun Fight, together with NTT, NTT’s friend, Daphne, Juzzywuzzy and Brokenshardz. The idea is to perform the banned X-Box commercial, in real life. It has also been done in some other countries, though currently I don’t have the links.

Though the location was not ideal due to the rain, we had quite some fun. And towards the end of the mission some people were also cursing at us… Oh well.

Here’s the official video…

I can’t help but to feel so… yellow.

Here’s another, unofficial, video.

Global Enterprise Computers

Friday, June 6th, 2008

Spent the morning discussing with HR, and after filling forms after forms after forms, I am now officially an employee of Global Enterprise Computers, Inc (from now on called GEC). My first salary is… somewhere between $1000 and $5000, which is quite alright, I think, although all my friends are telling me it’s too low.

My first day of work will be on 23 June, so I may be going home for about a week next week. I’ll also have to apply for permanent residence soon.

Thereafter I hope it’s going to be an exciting, new journey. :)

I don’t think I have to say much here. :D

Thanks to everyone who have made this 4-year journey of mine a successful one.

PS: Twitter and Plurk seriously shortens my thoughts into 140-character fragments.
