Accidentally In Love

Saturday, April 30th, 2005

I’d love to see Accidentally In Love being developed into a full movie. Go check out the trailer in the website.

Got the link from Mr. Miyagi.

When I opened the link, I didn’t realise it was at NTU until the scene where the guy entered the toilet and the girl exited appeared. I thought, hey, that looks familiar… Looks like one in SCI! Then I checked the address of the website, and found out that it is indeed hosted in NTU.

The website and the movie, as I discovered, were part of CS108 Information Technology For Media Use. So interesting… Too bad that only CS students can take it.

Quote from Office of Academic Services’ Contents of Subjects page:

CS108 - INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FOR MEDIA USE - 4.0 AU
Prerequisite: nil
Not available to: ACC, ADM, AERO, BIE, BMS, BS, BUS, CBE, CE, CEE, CHEM, CHIN, CSC, ECON, EEE, ELH, ENE, ENG, MAT, MATH, MPE, MS, PHSC, PHY, PSY, SOC

It’s also interesting to note that NTU chose to list out all courses which CS108 is not applicable to instead of putting down “Only applicable to: CS” or something similar. Talk about efficiency.

Maths Stuff

Friday, April 29th, 2005

This should look familiar to some of you, especially those who are in Common Engineering Year 1 in NTU.

Dream Maths

Barring any careless mistakes or incorrect application of concepts, it does look pretty normal to see one in your lesson, doesn’t it?

It’s pretty normal to see one in your tutorial.

It’s pretty normal to see one in your friend’s exercise book.

It’s pretty normal to see one in your practice papers.

It’s pretty normal to see one in your examinations.

But when you start seeing something like this in your dream, like what yours truly saw a couple of hours ago, you know something is wrong with you.

On another news, my last paper of the semester starts in a mere one hour from the moment I’m typing this entry. Within three hours, all my toil and trouble throughout the semester will be lifted!

Yay! :-D
Not that I’m ready for the paper though.

Lecture For The Thief

Sunday, April 24th, 2005

I’m sure that after listening to what he has to say, whoever stole the laptop belonging to UC Berkeley’s Biology lecturer Prof. Jasper Rine wishes that he has some hole where he can hide for at least a few years.

The audio recording was from a webcast (a.k.a lecture recording for the folks in NTU) at the said university. It’s a pity that the actual video webcast was cropped at the corresponding time, just like the case of the confession video closer to home here in NUS. Otherwise it might be a tad more interesting. Luckily for the case of the confession video, someone took the interesting portion out before it was taken down.

There’s also a transcript of what the lecturer said, so if the audio link above doesn’t work, you can still read what the lecturer had said.

Dating Personality

Saturday, April 23rd, 2005

Found on Jan’s blog. Thought I’d try it out.

Your dating personality profile:

Adventurous - Just sitting around the house is not something that appeals to you. You love to be out trying new things and really experiencing life.

Liberal - Politics matters to you, and you aren’t afraid to share your left-leaning views. You would never be caught voting for a conservative candidate.

Athletic - Physical fitness is one of your priorities. You find the time to work athletic pursuits into your schedule. You enjoy being active.

Your date match profile:

Funny - You consider a good sense of humor a major necessity in a date. If her jokes make you laugh, she has won your heart.

Adventurous - You are looking for someone who is willing to try new things and experience life to its fullest. You need a companion who encourages you to take risks and do exciting things.

Shy - You are put off by people who are open books. You are drawn to someone who is a bit more mysterious. You want to draw her out of her shell and get to know what she is all about.

Your Top Ten Traits

1. Adventurous
2. Liberal
3. Athletic
4. Sensual
5. Funny
6. Stylish
7. Wealthy/Ambitious
8. Big-Hearted
9. Religious

Ok. This deserves some comments of my own. I’m definitely not liberal. Heck, politics is a big no-no for me. And me being athletic? ROTFLMAO… It’s the biggest joke I’ve ever heard since Russel Peters! Adventurous-wise… Ok lah, maybe a little bit.

As for the match traits… It might be true. But then again, since I’ve never been in a relationship before, I guess I’d never know what kind of match I really prefer. Not in the near future anyway. :P

50. Fifty. Lima Puluh.

Wednesday, April 13th, 2005

I sat there, gazing at the CS202 Visual Communication paper as if hoping that something will pop out of it, cold sweat glistening on my forehead. How I managed to see my own forehead in the examinations was another issue altogether.

It doesn’t make sense at all!

No it wasn’t. It was never meant to. Not for me, The Year One Engineering Student Who Is In A Computer Arts Club And Takes Communication Studies Subjects (TYOESWIIACACATCSS) anyway.

I opened my eyes one more time, hoping that what I saw 2 minutes earlier would change.

It didn’t.

There on the piece of question paper lay the sacred numbers. The numbers that would determine the life and death of any YOESWIIACACATCSS (thereinafter we shall call an ES, short for an Engineering Student, for simplicity sake).

Fish!

I read that number again.

50.

One more time.

Fifty.

Just to make sure.

Lima puluh.

Bloody hell!

Then my gaze fell on the questions.

Short and sweet, the questions were. But short and sweet, the answers expected weren’t. Cos how the heck was one supposed to write short and sweet answers worth 50 marks?!?

And so for the first half an hour of the paper, I had to overcome the shock that I had to churn out 50 marks worth of answers on my answer script. For each part.

And there were two parts in the paper.

In the end, all is not-so-well.

I spent the next 50 minutes doing the first part, and the following part was attempted in only 40 minutes left of the paper.

I was quite confident of the first part, hoping to get at least 30 marks, but the second question was, I would say, quite tough. Tough because there were not much stuff I could regurgitate of my small memory (damn those faulty memory distributors). So I’m expecting to get something like 20 marks for this part.

But then ah well… To think of the bright side, it’s one paper down! Only four more to go! Yay!

Foxtrot++

Spotted in Cuiwen’s blog.

There’s only one logic mistake: there should be a \n behind I will not throw paper airplanes in class., otherwise the program will go as:

I will not throw paper airplanes in class.I will not throw paper airplanes in class.I will not throw paper airplanes in class.I will not throw paper airplanes in class.I will not throw paper airplanes in class.

instead of the intended

I will not throw paper airplanes in class.
I will not throw paper airplanes in class.
I will not throw paper airplanes in class.
I will not throw paper airplanes in class.
I will not throw paper airplanes in class.

PS: No, I don’t know Cuiwen personally, other than the girl in the lecture confession video. And no, I’m not going to present flowers to her during any lecture.

Nintendo A Cappella

Tuesday, April 12th, 2005

If you like old Nintendo games (especially Super Mario Bros), or if you like a cappella music, or if you like both, you would not want to miss this hilarious a cappella rendition of some of the most famous old Nintendo games soundtracks. Even if you don’t like Nintendo games nor a cappella, the video is still worth a visit. Click on the image below to view the video.

Buat orang Indo…

(Holy crap! T*hi kudus! For once I post in Indonesian! Anyway… The video I’m going to attach is in Indonesian, and I’m a bit lazy to translate it to English… The short video, made last semester by Mbah Chan, Vidy, and Suhu from NTU serves as an encouragement for those having exams. Feel free to click on the link and see how the video looks like. The rest of this post will be in Indonesian.)

Anyway…

Nikmati!

Maksudnya… Enjoy!
